One important sub-set of the disabledin film and on TV is the disabled
veteran. I'm thinking in particular of the representation of the
disabled vet as he (she?) tries to adjust to "normal" life: the
hand-less vet in BEST YEARS OF OUR LIVES, Jon Voight's character in
COMING HOME, Tom Cruise's in BORN ON THE 4TH OF JULY, et al.
