Three very good books on silent film are William K. Everson's "American
Silent Film"; Kevin Brownlow's "The Parade's Gone By" and Walter Kerr's "The
Silent Clowns". Of course, there are hundreds of others, but most deal with
specific, rather than general subjects. If you wish to be more specific,
please re-post.
