Dear Colleagues,

For the upcoming edition of the peer-reviewed journal *Short Film
Studies *(Issue
13.1)*, *in addition to the ongoing open Call for Papers, which welcomes
submissions that reflect your critical and scholarly interests about short
films and media, essays are invited that focus on the issue's featured
theme: *environmental or ‘Green’ shorts* that represent, among several
possibilities: global warming; climate change; activism; social justice.
The shorts may be narrative or non-narrative, fiction or documentary,
live-action, animated, or avant-garde.

The film chosen for close study for this issue is *Pillars* (2020), the
brilliant, award-winning short directed and written by Haley Elizabeth
Anderson. The film is available @ www.criterionchannel.com/videos/pillars.

An interview with the director will be available on the journal’s site @
www.intellectbooks.com/short-film-studies under the “Submissions
Guidelines” tab (where you will also find  the issue’s full Call for Papers
and a list of potential topic areas).

Please send a brief abstract of 50-to-75-words, and a brief biographical
statement to [log in to unmask]

Deadline for full submissions: *5 December 2022*
Length of manuscripts: 1500 to 4000 words
