There are still images in Bergman's "Persona" in several places throughout
the film, most importantly probably the famous photograph from the Warsaw
ghetto that falls out of a book.  There are, of course, many films that
begin and/or end with a freeze frame, fade into/out of B/W or sepia if that
counts (eg. "Butch Cassidy").  "Rear Window", at the beginning
particularly, puts great importance on Jeff's photographs on the wall.
