Although I'm somewhat pleased PRISCILLA got the costume oscar, this
seems unsurprising overall, as the Academy's tendency is always to misread
"most" for "best" in such categories -- most make-up, most costume, most
editing, etc. always tends to win out over the more subtle "best" -- who
thinks costumes are effective if nobody notices them in and of themselves?
Who thinks sound is effective if it's not pounding and blaring?? And we
will have to wait until next year to see if such costumes, when worn by
women, have an award-winning chance -- cf. Muriel's Wedding. (and yes, the
Academy often rewards "most" acting as well)
