Hello,

I am sending a query on behalf of a historian friend.

She asks:

I want to know whether the names of the three fairies from Sleeping Beauty – Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather – are named for the Lewis and Clark expedition. Meriwether Lewis was ordered by Thomas Jefferson to record all flora and fauna that the group encountered.

Does anyone know the backstory on these fairies? Thanks!
