Dear Colleagues,

For the upcoming edition of the peer-reviewed journal Short Film Studies (Issue 13.1), in addition to the ongoing open Call for Papers, which welcomes submissions that reflect your critical and scholarly interests about short films and media, articles are invited that focus on the issue's featured theme: environmental or ‘Green’ shorts that represent, among several possibilities: global warming; climate change; activism; social justice. The shorts may be narrative or non-narrative, fiction or documentary, live-action, animated, or avant-garde.

The film chosen for close study for issue 13.1 is Pillars (2020), the brilliant, award-winning short directed and written by Haley Elizabeth Anderson. The film is available @ www.criterionchannel.com/videos/pillars. The trailer is @ www.youtube.com/watch?v=yCUj2SpjtLs
