Position available: Pittsburgh Filmmakers is seeking a full-time faculty
member to teach classes and to perform administrative duties for its
undergraduate educational program. This faculty member will teach seven class
sections per academic year in a film, video, digital media and photography
program that emphasizes a fine art approach. Applicants must have extensive
experience working in digital media and a track record as an artist working
either in digital media or in film/video. Applicants must also have thorough
technical expertise in digital media as it applies to editing, sound and image
manipulation. An M.F.A. is preferred but not required, depending upon the
applicant's artistic background and professional experience.
Administrative duties for this position include recruiting, registering and
advising students; assisting the Director of Education in decisions regarding
the purchase of new equipment; participating with the Director of Education
and other faculty members in curriculum development; assisting students in the
digital lab; and working on special education projects from time to time.
Pittsburgh Filmmakers is an independent media arts center that was
established in 1971. It offers a wide range of courses for credit in a unique
partnership arrangement with eight western Pennsylvania colleges and
universities: Carnegies Mellon University, the University of Pittsburgh, Point
Park College, LaRoche College, Duquesne University, Carlow College, Robert
Morris College and Seton Hill College. Benefits include full health coverage
