Latest additions to the book-reviews featured on the New Publications
page of the Hitchcock Scholars/'MacGuffin' Web site: (1) Dan Auiler's
'VERTIGO: The Making of a Hitchcock Classic', and (2) Robert Samuels's
'Hitchcock's Bi-Textuality: Lacan, Feminisms, and Queer Theory'.
(Coming soon: a review of
Camille Paglia's BIRDS book and a review of a new scholarly article on
REBECCA.)

Current items in the "Editor's Day" feature on the same site's News &
Comment
(Home) page include: SUSPICION (2 items); THE 39 STEPS; film directing
(what Hitchcock said in a little-known article of 1936 - it's not
indexed in Sloan); the McKittrick Hotel in VERTIGO (3 items); John
Buchan's
prejudices; what Hitchcock got from ON THE WATERFRONT (2 items).

That last item includes reference to the ship in MARNIE (and two
possible inspirations of it).

The "News" feature on the same page has lately added a report on the
death of Robert Young and
an update on Van Sant's PSYCHO re-make/re-vamp.

Please note: comments from visitors are welcomed - and we especially
invite short paraphrases/reviews for our New Publications page of
Hitchcock-related articles that have appeared in difficult-to-access
scholarly journals.

The next 'MacGuffin' will feature VERTIGO plus a long review of
Samuels's 'Hitchcock's Bi-Textuality'. Plus other features (e.g., Dan
Auiler writes for us on his favourite Hitchcock films).

- Ken Mogg (Ed., 'The MacGuffin').
