I did not read the original e-mail, nor have I followed many of the
responses.  However, as someone who was actually in Paris in May 1968,
and, indeed, at the Sorbonne as a foreign student, I can say that
the spirit of 68' was the dismantling of hierarchies--especially hierar-
chies of knowledge.  All questions should be welcomed and addressed
seriously if this forum is to exist as a forum.
