Dear Don and others,
The BBC production you mention starred Michael Caine, not Michael York. I
think the title was "The Other Man" or something like that and was produced
in the 60s when Caine did some good television character roles before
becoming trapped by his "Alfie" persona.
Ironically, in view of Caine's later championship of Margaret Thatcher,
his self-styled identification as the Gene Hackman of Britain (something
Richard Harris justifiably criticized him for), and his sneering at low-
paid workers, Caine's performance as a British officer who finally becomes
a fully fledged Nazi represents a really interesting anticipation of
his future politics!.
