Food=orgasm in "When Harry Met Sally."

Food=paranoia in the parallel family dinner scene in "Annie Hall"

Don't forget "Mildred Pierce" -- she opens the restaurant and loses her
daughter's love.

And wasn't "Imitation of Life" built around a black woman, a white
woman, and a pancake recipe?

Richard Lester constantly uses food in the foreground -- people
reaching for it and reaching toward the camera: in "A Hard Day's
Night," "Help!" "The Three Musketeers" (the dwarves with the food trays
on their heads in Louis' party scene are priceless!), etc.
