Right.  The film is British puppet animation (not japanimation, which
generally refers to cartoon animation).  It is filmed as one continuous
shot--in other words, Purves did not see what he had shot until all ten
minutes of animation had been completed--a huge gamble.  The story is
Purves' own.  It was nominated for an Oscar but did not win.  Purves has
since done a beautiful puppet version of "Rigoletto" for, I think, British
TV.  Sorry, no further help on obtaining a copy, other than to suggest
contacting PICTURE START in Chicago, an independent distributor of animated
films (as well as documentaries, etc.).  They might be able to point you in
