This is an extremely common practice and the best place to begin looking would
be at Justin Wyatt's book on HIGH CONCEPT, and search the trades (VARIETY,
 etc.)on a film by film basis.  There are multiple versions of films made and
 they
are often conceptualized that way in the initial pitch or marketing strategies.
