Subject: Re: The Human Voice
Kristine Butler asks about films in which the human voice is drowned out by
other sounds. It's been a long time since I've seen it, but isn't something
like this in the climax of Fellini's _La Dolce Vita_? An innocent woman is
trying to tell the jaded Marcello some piece of wisdom, but he can't hear her
because of the sound of, I think, rushing water. I believe we call this a
metaphor.
