Hi Gordon. I vaguely remember an old 50s B-grade science fiction film
called *Twonky* or thereabouts (possibly it's the name of the TV or
alien/entity).
It was about an alien/entity entering a TV set and controlling its
viewers. No doubt it would be viewed today as a metaphor about the
(unconscious?, subconcscious?, pre-conscious?, post-conscious?, whatever)
fear of TV-as-mind-controller, in much the same way that *Invasion of the
Body Snatchers* is touted as a metaphor for Communist infiltration.
