In response to Philop Shane's post on crossreferencing in the New Wave,
aside from BREATHLESS and BAND OF OUTSIDERS (my favorite early Godard), my other
 favorite is MISSISSIPPI MERMAID, where Belmondo takes refuge with Deneurve
in a cabin near the Alps (itself a crossreference if I recall).  He realizes
that he's being poisoned when he sees a comic strip version of Disney's
SNOW WHITE as she's about to eat the Queen's apple!
