        Mike Frankel posted a request for information about proposal
formats for independent documentary funding. On the chance that others
might find this citation useful, I am sending it to the list.
        The best resource on the subject that I have found is "Get the
Money and Shoot" published by Documentary Research in Buffalo, NY. It is
essentially a manual written by filmmakers on proposal writing and fund
raising. It includes samples of proposals, budgets, step-by-step writing
instructions, funding resource guides and virtually everything else
(including attitude) needed in getting an independent doc off the ground.
I found it mirrored much of my professional experience, and I use it in a
class I teach on fund-raising.
                                        Good luck,
                                           Sarah Stein
