UCLA TFT Screenwriting Faculty Search – Job Description
The Department of Film, Television and Digital Media in the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television invites distinguished writers for narrative film and/or television to apply for a tenured Full Professor appointment.
The ideal candidate will have an MFA in film and/or television writing from an accredited institution or will have a minimum of 5 years professional experience including distinguished professional experiences and screen credits in writing for narrative film and/or television. WGA membership preferred. Special consideration will be given to applicants who embrace social impact and diversity in their creative work. All applicants must be able to lead students through a range of creative and practical approaches to writing for narrative film and/or television.
This senior level professor will be responsible for teaching a variety of courses in narrative film and/or television writing at the BA and MFA levels and will be expected to participate fully in university and department service. S/he will have had experience, or the professional equivalent (teaching professional workshops, labs, or mentoring programs), teaching large-enrollment lecture courses in the fundamentals of narrative film and/or television writing, and in teaching limited-enrollment advanced writing seminars/workshops. We seek an established, currently active writer for narrative film and/or television with a distinguished national and/or international reputation who possesses the highest levels of artistic excellence and skill. Rank/Salary: We are seeking applicants who qualify for appointment to a tenured Full Professor faculty position in the Film, Television & Digital Media Department. Salary will be commensurate with background and experience.
