Cinema of J. C. Chandor

Possible panel or roundtable for Literature/Film Association Annual Conference

This year's Literature/Film Association Conference will open with a screening of the recent film A Most Violent Year (2014), directed by J. C. Chandor.  Neal Dodson, one of the producers of that film and a close collaborative partner of Chandor, will be in attendance.  Because of this event, the conference organizers would like to put together a panel or roundtable on any or all of the films written and directed by J. C. Chandor.  They include Margin Call (2011), All is Lost (2013), and A Most Violent Year.  Projects may approach the subject from the perspective of any relevant scholarly discourse in literary, cinema and/or media studies.  Note that while the impetus for the panel is a director's body of work, individual projects need not be auteurist in approach.  In the same vein, while our organization is devoted to the study of adaptation, projects need not treat concepts germane to adaptation studies.  Finally, the theme of this year's conference is "Adapting the Real."  If you would like to speak to that theme, you are welcome though not obligated to do so.

Please include in your initial email a brief abstract (300-500 words) of your project idea.  Also, since we are considering a roundtable as a possibility at this stage, if you are already planning to submit a presentation abstract on another topic at this same conference but would like to contribute to a roundtable as well, please indicate that in your email, too.

Because we are soliciting papers on this particular topic, the deadline for initial emails is Monday, July 6, 2015, ahead of the main abstract deadline of July 20.
