I am looking for information pertaining to the release of The Hidan of Maukbeiangjow aka Invasion of the Girl Snatchers. I am in touch with the surviving screenwriter, Carla Rueckert. The film was released in or around 1973, or shot, the record seems unclear, but apparently it was shot in the fall of '73 and exhibited by late in the year. Director Lee Jones handled the distribution, got only about six prints made, and it is believed that they were exhibited in Louisiana. That's all the known detail. Apparently, no poster was ever made, and the prints apparently had no title (as can be seen on the UAV VHS release--and the first ten minutes have been posted on YouTube) on the since the original title was considered unmarketable on the grindhouse circuit, although that is the title that made it onto the theatrical trailer.
If someone in Louisiana is going to be looking at microfilms of Louisiana papers from 1973-74 in their upcoming researches, I would really appreciate if you keep an eye out for either of those two titles in the drive-in listings for me.
Thanks,
Scott

"Those who had been successful adapted themselves to the world around them, had bent their greater mental powers into the pattern of acceptable action. And this dulled their usefulness, limited their capacity, hedged their ability with restrictions set up to fit less extraordinary people." -- Clifford D. Simak, "Census" (1944)
