Surely the most bizarre example of African Americans and science fiction is
"Space Is the Place" (1974), starring the Sun Ra, the black bandleader who
was, to say the least, unique.

my favorite is a film about black sci fi, and electronic music. it's by
john akomfrah, and is called Last Angel of History. a fabulous, brilliant
creative-docu film
