25 years ago and earlier, 16mm films by the tens of thousands were rented out to
schools & clubs. At that time, the distributor of DAVID GOLDER, I'm almost
certain, would have been one of the following five companies (ranked in order of
probability it was that one which had GOLDER):
BRANDON FILMS,
MUSEUM OF MODERN ART,
CONTEMPORARY FILMS,
AUDIO FILM CLASSICS,
JANUS FILMS.

Eventually Audio merged with Brandon, and for several years the partnership was
known as AUDIO-BRANDON.

The MUSEUM is still in operation, and the "Film Dept" within the Museum might be a
great source of information (who now handles DAVID GOLDER). JANUS, too, may still
be in operation, and might have information about GOLDER.

I suspect all those other 16mm companies have gone out of business -- but what
happened to their huge physical inventories of 16mm film prints?

Steven P Hill,
University of Illinois (USA).
