Lecturer/Senior Lecturer (Confirmation Path) in Department of Communication

Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons for two or more
positions as Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Communication Studies/Film and
Media Studies, located in the Department of Communication Studies in the
School of Language, Literature and Performing Arts. Exceptionally well
qualified candidates may be appointed at a higher level.

Applicants should have a PhD in an area relevant to Communication
Studies/Film and Media Studies, together with a strong research profile, a
record of successful university teaching, and the ability to work in an
interdisciplinary programme.

The appointee will be expected to teach courses at all levels, including
postgraduate; to supervise postgraduate student research; to engage
personally in research; and to participate in the development of a growing,
broadly based programme in Communication Studies.

We are especially interested in applicants with expertise in one or more of
the following areas: Media History; Historiography; Mass Communication;
Communication Research Methods; Media and Intercultural Communication; Asian
Media Contexts; Media Institutions; Media and Children; Media, Culture and
Society; Interpersonal and Organisational Communications.

The successful applicant(s) should be able to assume responsibility by
January 2004 at the latest, and earlier if possible.
