1.  i don't use a writing text . . . the kids have a handbook
and a dictionary and we just write and write and write

2.  the basninger book might work . . . is it a reasonably
serious and coherently developed piece of work?
while i'd prefer something that addressed movies the
kids knew i could deal with making them watch older
movies if there were some way of making the points
applicable to their own world and their own experiences
 . . . but the book may be worth looking at
