In the semiotic analysis of *Citizen Kane* that appeared in *Film
Reader 1* (1975), overseen by Lee Russell, uh, I mean Peter Wollen, the
number of shots can be deduced from figures given on pages 32-37. I
believe both the script that appears in *The Citizen Kane Book* and the
actual film itself were used to determine the number of shots (which
should yield the number of "cuts," I imagine).
