Truffaut's THE LAST METRO
Louis Malle's ZAZIE DANS LE METRO
Luc Besson had a film just titled SUBWAY
Anna Karina sings that wonderful song on the Metro in Godard's BAND OF
OUTSIDERS
THE TAKING OF PELHAM 123
the film version of LeRoi Jones'/Amiri Baraka's DUTCHMAN
SLIDING DOORS (referring to the London Underground)
The ending of CROCODILE DUNDEE
MIMIC--the monster film with Mia Sorvino set mostly in the NY subway
system
Vera-Ellen is "Miss Turnstiles" in ON THE TOWN
Judy Garland and Robert Walker nearly lose each other on the subway in
THE CLOCK
The elegant subway cat-and-mouse game in THE FRENCH CONNECTION
The lamentable TURK 182! involves a subway graffiti artist
The abandonded subways of a post-apocalyptic New York in ESCAPE FROM
NEW YORK
There are major scenes involving subways in such films as GHOST, DEATH
WISH, DIVA, THE WIZ (the urban musical version of THE WIZARD OF OZ),
Scorsese's AFTER HOURS, the film version of Doctorow's THE BOOK
OF DANIEL (now titled just DANIEL), MODERN TIMES, PEPE LE MOKO
Above ground, there's the famous subway grating scene with Marilyn
Monroe from THE SEVEN-YEAR ITCH
You might also be interested in such things as the 1935 TRANSATLANTIC
TUNNEL and the final chase in the Channel Tunnel in the first MISSION
IMPOSSIBLE film.
