>I'm looking for films which centre around family in-fighting (sibling vs
>sibling, parent vs child/ren, etc). Any ideas?
TONS OF MONEY (UK 1924) - shown at a British silent film conference
earlier this year, a comedy about various family members impersonating a
supposedly-dead relative in order to get their hands on the family loot.
Deserves widespread revival.
UN CHAPEAU DE PAILLE D'ITALIE (1927) - hilarious adaptation of the Labiche
play be René Clair: family tensions surface during the wedding from Hell.
Another British silent: would THE MANXMAN qualify, e.g. tension between the
Anny Ondra character and her father, her fiancé coming under pressure for
marrying beneath his class &c.?
Various films about the Rothschilds, including a 30s Hollywood epic and, I
believe, a Nazi propaganda film.
HILARY AND JACKIE (1998)
And, unusually for me, a bang up-to-date example:
THE TICHBOURNE CLAIMANT (1999).
