Re: American dominance in film

As I recall, the first query about this subject came from Canada
(appropriately enough). On that specific subject, and to follow up on Mark
Langer's comment, you might look at two studies in the political economy of
the Canadian film industry:
Author: Pendakur, Manjunath, 1945-
Title: Canadian dreams and American control : the political economy
of the Canadian film industry
Published: Detroit : Wayne State University Press, c1990.
Author: Magder, Ted, 1959-
Title: Canada's Hollywood : the Canadian state and feature films
Published: Toronto : University of Toronto Press, 1993.
For research on the subject on a broader international scale (and which
excludes Canada from the discussion), see:
Author: Thompson, Kristin, 1950-
Title: Exporting entertainment : America in the world film market,
1907-34
Published: London : BFI Pub., 1985.
