Working in multimedia, I can say you've asked some huge questions.
Something very similar to:  "Can anyone tell me how to make a motion
picture?"
 
There are libraries of books and dozens of authoring software packages to
help with multimedia.  Most multimedia projects are pulled together with a
team of anywhere from half-a-dozen to 60 people.  The most popular
software package is probably Macromedia's Director.  You can visit them at
www.macromedia.com.
