I am looking for films of the Forties which stage race
impersonations. It does not have to be the whole film--a sequence will
do. They would have to be directed by men and have a woman performer at
the center of the scene. A performance for a diegetic audience would be
a definite plus.
I am looking for something more complex than a female version of an
Al Jolson routine--if at all possible. Something like Sarah Jane's
multiple impersonations in *Imitation of Life* (1959) which culminate in
the "Crawdads" scene would be ideal.
        Thank you.
