I am teaching a course in television literacy using _Teleliteracy: Taking
Television Seriously_ by David Bianculli, Continuum, 1992.  This is a
very readable and humorous look at the TV medium.  It is rumored to be
appearing soon in paperback.
 
Bianculli is TV critic for the Philadelphia Inquirer and NY Post (I think).
 
I lecture from some of the other books mentioned, but I find the students
really respond to Bianculli's dry humor and analysis.
