Subject: Films: Science, Religion, Magic

Dear learned folk:

Would anyone care to recommend films which cross (at least two out of three
of) science, religion, and magic?

This is for a course on the subject.

Specifically, interested in films related to:

The Atomic Age
space travel
UFOlogy
The Cold War
Big Science
20th century science, religion, magic

Obviously, would like thought-provoking and interesting films, from which a
few interesting scenes could be used to illustrate points.

Some obvious choices:

Pi
Dr. Strangelove
Close Encounters
Inherit the Wind
Fat Man and Little Boy (have not seen it)
On the Beach
War of the Worlds
The Fifth Element
Contact

Any suggestions for films - and for specific scenes in films - welcome.

Thank you,
