Does anyone have information about where I could rent the video version of
the film "Butley"?  It stars Alan Bates as a tutor at Oxford, I believe,
trying to fend off his tutorial students long enough to deal with his own
problems.  I remember it as containing some very corrosive wit and satire,
which makes sense with Pinter having directed.  Haven't seen it since its
original showing in the American Film Theater series when plays were
presented in film versions in a subscription series that showed in theaters
across the country in the mid-70s.  (Albee's "A Delicate Balance" and
O'Neill's "The Iceman Cometh" with Lee Marvin were also included in that
series.)  Any info on the video would be appreciated.  Dan.

By the way, Jeremy, you did us a service quoting part of the Thoreau dictum
on new clothes, but, in full, the passage reads:  "I say, beware of all
enterprises that require new clothes, and not rather a new wearer of clothes.
 If there is not a new person [OK, he said "man"], how can the new clothes be
made to fit?  If you have any enterprise before you, try it in your old
clothes."
