I think the myth of the midwestern, lower middle class test audience should
be debunked. I've lived in Kansas City for several years and have never heard
of a test screening, but when I lived in LA a couple of years ago, test
screenings were abundant. Here, we're too insulated. I've heard that only
fifty percent of midwesterns go to a movie a year. Perhaps, the
sophisticated, bi-coastal audiences are also responsible for a compromising
cut of a film.
