I'm not sure if this one has already been mentioned, but what about Mel
Brooks' The Silent Movie? M.B.'s character is a "has-been" director who
attempts to revitalise his career by making a silent movie. The head of the
studio he pitches the idea to, agrees to make the film only if Brooks can
attract the "big names" in showbusiness.. such as, Burt Reynolds, Liza
Minelli, Paul Newman(?) etc...
