One or several of Vermeer's portraits are"enacted" in Wenders' "Until the
End of the World."  (While not quite the same, Wenders also "references"
the photographs of August Sander ("People of the 20th Century") in "Wings
of Desire", and cites Walker Evans for "Kings of the Road" and, I believe,
"Alice in the Cities."  Jesse Kalin
