March 28-29, 2008
Ithaca College, Ithaca, New York**
_Proposals Due: Oct. 17, 2007 _
“The Life and Legacy of Rod Serling,” an interdisciplinary academic
conference, is set for Friday and Saturday, March 28-29, 2008, at the
Roy H. Park School of Communications, Ithaca College, Ithaca, N.Y. The
college, where Serling, a New York native, taught from 1967-1975, is
also home to the Rod Serling Archives. The archives include an
extensive collection of television scripts, film screenplays, stage play
scripts, films, unpublished works by Rod Serling and other materials
vital to scholarship associated with the author and television pioneer.
In April 2006, the college presented the well-received “Submitted for
Your Approval,” a conference that focused on the creative work of Rod
Serling, offering research, anecdotes and an opportunity to view some of
the classics of early television. Come and be a part of the exploration
of that unique “dimension of imagination” that is the work of Rod Serling.
Papers, panels, poster sessions and other unique conference proposals
for the 2008 conference are welcomed in any of the following themes (see
link) but /all writing, television, or film scholarship related to Rod
Serling will be considered.
