Hi Scott,
To add to Lisa's note about "Shoot!", which is good for the aspects she
mentions and a climax that is noteworthy for what it suggests about the
power of film to absorb us so completely we have a hard time letting go,
here are the specifics:
The translation I have used is "Shoot! The Notebooks of Serafino Gubbio,
cinematograph operator," trans. C. K. Scott Moncrief (New York: E. P.
Dutton, 1926). Original title is: "Quaderini si Serafino Gubbio,
operatore" . . . good luck.
