Leonie,
I am not a genius when it comes to research. I prefer to make films, not
write about them. However, a good start might be *Journal of Popular
Culture*. It is a scholarly journal with papers on comic book characters,
animation, sci-fi & fantasy, pop music, and much more. I hope that this
might be a good start. Good Luck to your student.
