Rather than Easy Rider as an Odyssey film, Duccio Tessari's Italian Western,
THE RETURN OF RINGO is a far better contender. It not only uses Homer's
elements of disguise and climactic revenge but reworks the original in terms
of Italian and classical Hollywood western conventions (the Hawks woman) in
really ingenious terms.
Both Billy and Captain America in EASY RIDER have no home to begin with
and just wander aimlessly until their demise by early Gingrich/Limbaugh
types.
