I hope everyone out there is aware of the Nicholl Fellowship in Screenwriting.
This is an annual award of up to five $20,000 grants to winners of the
nationwide contest. The rules are that you can not have ever made more than
$1,000 for an option and have never sold a complete screenplay, story or
treatment for a theaterical screenplay.

It's a great contest and the winners are often folks who have only written one
script, the one they submit for the contest.

The contest is sponsored by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
The deadline is May 1, '92 and there is a $25.00 per script application fee ---
but you can submit as many scripts as you like. Screenplays have to be the
work of one person and not based on a story, book, play, or script by anyone
else; they are looking for original screenplays (script can be based on your
own story, novel, play or script). They are looking for 110 to 130 page
script.

If you want an application and/or more info, contact:
        Academy Foundation
        Nicholl Fellowship in Screenwriting
        8949 Wilshire Blvd.
        Beverly Hills, CA 90211

Good luck.
