ANDREW W. MELLON POSTDOCTORAL FELLOWSHIPS IN THE HUMANITIES

FOR 1999-2001

Bryn Mawr College invites applications for two postdoctoral fellowships in
the humanities.  The Committee seeks applications for:
1)  a fellow in American Media and Film Studies, particularly someone
working in any of the following areas:  film theory, media and mass
culture, feminist theory, and performance theory.  This fellow will be
jointly housed in the English and History Departments
 2)  a fellow whose work focuses on the politics of gender and women's
organizations or movements in South Asia, preferably, but not necessarily,
in its cities.  This fellow will be a part of the College's program in
Feminist and Gender Studies and should have a background in the social
sciences and an interdisciplinary orientation towards research and teaching.
Fellows will pursue research interests, teach one course per semester and
engage in the intellectual life of the college.  Fellowships are for two
years, subject to annual review and recommendation.  Applicants must have
completed the Ph.D. degree by June 1999.  Stipend:  $31,000.
