Empire State Exhibition
 
         The Empire State Exhibitions brings the art of independent
videographers and filmmakers to Central New York State. Works are
presented to thousands of people at the New York State Fair; in
Rpchester, Syracuse,Ithaca, Urica, Little Falls and Saratoga Springs.
In addition, outstanding student are included in an exhibition which
travels to film programs across the nation.
 
Dates;
this year's Exhibitions will be screened between August 21st and
September 20th.
 
Categories
Film entries are considered in the following categories;
Narrative Feature, Narrative Short, Documentary, Experimental,
Animation,
Video Entries are considerd in the following categories;
Narrative Video, Documentary Video, Experimental Video.
 
Consideration and Awards
All submitted films and videos will be viewed by a preliminary
screening committee. Works chosen to participate in the festival will
compete for prizes awarded by a panel of judges.
 
                                     Eligibility
All Submissions
    Feature length for films and videos must be no less than fifty
(50) minutes. Short length for length for films and videos must be no
more thatn fitte minutes. Running time is calculated by timing the
head frame to the last frame of the ending credits.
 
Films
     Ffilms must be made available fro festival presentation in 16mm or
35 mm 'composite' conditin with optical soundtrack and titles
included. Films requiring dual projection (interlock)will not be
accepted.
     To be considered for the festival, feature films can no have had
a major theatrical release or a national broadcast before August 31,
1997
     No film initiated, produced or primarily funded by a major
motion studio is eligible for the competition, However, any film
conforming to the above guidelines and purchased by a studio after
completion is eligible.
 
Videos
    Videos are considered workd that originate on video. Works
created on video will be considered in video categories only, even if
the screening format is film.
    Regradless of original format, Videos must be made available for
Festival presentation in 1/2" VHS (NTSC) format.
 
                                       Submissions
Submissions must be postmakred by Saturday, July 12 th, 1997.
     The entry fee for all features is fifty dollars($50.00)
     The entry fee for all shorst is thirty dollars ($30.00)
All entries must be submitted for preview on 1/2" VHS (NTSC) video
cassetee.
All entries must be sent prepaid and packed in proper containers
(fiber-filled envelopes may cause damage to video cassettes).
Make all checks payable to :Empire State Exhibitions.
Entries must include a synopsis fo the entry, complete cast/credits
list, and a self-addressed stamped postcard (to confirm receipt of
entry). The synopsis should e a legible, concise description of the
basic plot and/or premise of your submission and should be limited to
no more than one hundred words.
Films and videos chosen for exhibition must also submit two
black&white production stills immediately upon selection.
Submitted video cassettes and accmpanying materials will not be
returned and will become the property of the Empire State
Exhibitions.
