It's not always easy to know what inspires film makers to make a particular
type of film. But suggest you take a look at Richard Lester's THE BED
SITTING ROOM(1969) and some of Terry Gilliam's films such as TIME
BANDITS(1981 and BRAZIL(1985). Also Kubrick's A CLOCKWORK ORANGE(1971).
Even Michael Anderson's version of 1984(actually made in 1984). Or almost
any post-apocalyptic film, preferably with a dark sense of the ridiculous.
If you were refering to ALIEN RESURRECTION, then I assume the inspiration
for that was the first three films in the series..... Incidentally, each
made by a different director.

I have a student who wants to know of films whose esthetique may have
inspired the makers of 'Delicatessen', 'La Cite des enfants perdus' and the
most recent 'Aliens'. Does anyone have any suggestions?
