You might check out the excellent Mexican film Macario. It's based on a folktale called Godfather Death with a script and story version by B. Traven, shot by the legendary Gabriel Figueroa and directed by Roberto Galvadon. We want to try to build the course around a theme and use films as part of the course. We have done this in the past and it works well. This coming summer we thought of using the theme of Resistance and the Problem of Evil, and I would like to use the expertise of the list members to ask for suggestions on this theme. We only have time to show 4-5 films in conjunction with readings. For example, the class might read Martin Luther King's "Letter from Birmingham Jail" and then watch The Long Walk Home or read something in Liberation Theology and then view Romero. If anyone has other film suggestions, I would greatly appreciate having them. You can post to the list or send directly to my email address below. Thanks. *************************** Ron Large Department of Religious Studies Gonzaga University [log in to unmask] *************************** ---- Online resources for film/TV studies may be found at ScreenSite http://www.tcf.ua.edu/ScreenSite ---- Online resources for film/TV studies may be found at ScreenSite http://www.tcf.ua.edu/ScreenSite
