As I'm up to my eyeballs currently with my dissertation on David Mamet, I find the gender-shifting that occurs in the neo-noir _House of Games_ particularly fascinating. IMHO, the "femme fatale" in this one is Joe Mantegna's Mike, with Lindsay Crouse's Margaret Ford as the hardboiled, yet vulnerable anti-hero. Off the top of my head, I can't think of another film that plays with stock noir gender roles this way -- any suggestions/ideas?
