GANDHI is perhaps too obvious an example, in conjuction with some of
his own writings (and Thoreau's "Civil Disobediance," among others?).
Solzhenitsyn's ONE DAY IN THE LIFE OF IVAN DENISOVICH and Sven
Nykvist's film version might be of interest too.  The film version of
BECKET raises interesting issues, as does Miller's THE CRUCIBLE.
