(Apologies for any cross postings) NAIDOC WEEK JULY 4-11 1999 - New BIBLIOZ and New edition of Indigenous Australia video catalogue To celebrate 1999 NAIDOC (National Aboriginal and Islander Day of Commemoration) Week (July 4-11), AFI Research & Information has published a new BIBLIOZ (Web bibliography on Australian screen topics) on the 1981 Australian road movie classic, Ned Lander's "Wrong Side of the Road" which features two Aboriginal bands, "No Fixed Address" and "Us Mob". The "Wrong Side of the Road" BIBLIOZ was compiled by RMIT University Department of Communication Studies student, Jesse Nonneman, and edited by AFI Client Services Librarian, Aysen Mustafa. Containing nearly 100 titles about Indigenous Australia distributed by the Australian Film Institute, "More than Legends" includes the following new titles on Indigenous Australia - - Yanardilyi - Cockatoo Creek, CD-ROM from the Yuendumu Community in the Northern Territory; - "Shifting Sands", the 6 short dramas from the Australian Film Commission Indigenous Film Unit which screened in 1998 on SBS-TV and includes works by award-winning indigenous directors, Ivan Sen & Erica Glynn - After Mabo, the John Hughes documentary on the debate surrounding the proposed amendments to the 1993 Native Title Act; - Walking with my Sisters, Bronwyn Kidd's documentary on three sisters pursuing their case for a land rights claim on their homeland round Byron Bay in NSW - Two/Out, the award winning short drama by Kriv Stenders; and Whiteys like Us, Tom Zubrycki's new documentary on a group of affluent North Shore white Australians endeavouring to come to terms with the Aboriginal/White Australia reconciliation process.
