It does.  There can be further nuances given by the context of the
film, as in Fassbinder's MOTHER KUSTERS GOES TO HEAVEN, which is an
ironic evocation of a woman who becomes, in spite of herself, a
"people's hero" and the dish of "heaven and hell" that she is good at
cooking!
